How do you remove the shift linkage from the auto transmission?

Trying to remember the set up. Can't remember what my 73 C-6 has. What comes to mind is the rod up to the column has to be pryed in and out of a extremely by design, tight grommet. Is this the set-up you have?

i think its just a steel pin with a cotter pin in it.
