Been so long I don't even remember exactly what they look like ... There's usually a screw around the armrest area (any screw heads you see, take them out), your window crank handle has to come off, usually some kind of screw holding that on, the rest of it should just pop loose around the edges and then lift it up so the top edge unclips itself from the top edge of the door.
They didn't make them real complicated back then. A forked screwdriver - like trim panel removal tool might come in handy there.

Just looked up a picture to try and remember. IF I remember this right, there should be a bigass phillips screw holding your door handle on from the front, something in the center of your window crank, possibly a screw down from the top in that little metal tray thing in the armrest, and if you don't see any more screw heads anywhere, it should just have plastic pop - in clips holding it in around the edges.
It should pull straight out.
