Default 73 F250 Camper special project

Hi all,
I have an all original 73 F250 camper special with a 390 V8,2V carb,C6 auto,factory air,power brakes and steering.
It is in good shape body wise for its age and has not been cut up like many other old trucks I have seen. Very little surface rust on top and hood.
It has been in my backyard for 4+ years now due to a lot of leaks and overheating issues. I pulled the motor out and tore it down to find blown head gaskets, slight grooves in the cylinders, and sludge in the oil pan. When I pulled the valve covers everything was completely covered in rust and sediment.
I have never driven this truck more than around the neighborhood since I got it. The funny thing is that as bad as the motor was it still ran!!

So now I am left deciding to spend the money on a complete rebuild or try to install the 351 fuel injected that I have from my 94 F250 that was totaled 7 years ago...... The 351 has a heavy duty manual trans on it now.
Can a 94 351 bolt up to a 73 C6 auto??
Do any of you know what other change might need to be made?
I removed all the computers and wiring with the motor when I pulled it,is it best to use that or look into one of the new bolt on self tuning intakes I have seen on truck shows lately?

Sorry for the long post and ton of questions, Just looking for some advise.

Thanks

It may take a little changing but the 351 should bolt fairly easy as long as your using your newer transmission. You may also have to use the cross member out of the new truck. I have a 429 out of a 70s torino in a 86 f250 so it shouldnt be to have for that switch

Was wanting to use the newer motor with the original c6. Wasn't sure if splines/ bell housing would work together.

Pretty sure the c6 will not work on the newer motor. Id go with the newer motor and trans combo. Might have to measure and cut the driveshaft down, or find a longer one depending on the measurements. It would be nice to have fuel injected on the 73 though!

Why not just carb the 351? A engine is a engine until you bolt stuff on it. If it dont have a mechanical fuel pump cover you can get a low pressure electric. Fuel injection would be nice but if it were me trying to pack the computer and add the sensors and wire everything wouldnt be worth it. For the tranny id figure it would swap, maybe with a different input shaft and stuff but ive never tried that combo. Maybe you could find a tranny shop near by and swap them your c6 and stick shift for a fresh auto that would work.

Not sure what it costs for machine work where you are, but a cleaning and bore on the cylinders shouldn't be that much on the 390 block. (my first truck had this engine) I am partial to the 390 as mine was very dependable even with the abuse an idiot high school boy put it through (<----this guy lol). If you are wanting to reuse the C6 I would take the time to rebuild it. Since you mentioned car shows, are you wanting to enter this into a car show or just something to tool around in?

EDIT** since you mentioned a blown head gasket, I would get it MagnaFluxed to make sure the block is good before any machine work is done. If it's cracked, scrap it for parts and put the 351 +tranny in it. With all that said, it's your truck, so do what you want to make it what you want to drive.

I've got a 1970 F-250 Camper Special with the 390 in it. I inherited it from my Grandfather. Glad to see someone else has one of these old work horses. They were and still are great trucks.
