Don't know if you completed this swap or not, BUT if you didn't, and the mounts/perches are your problem, try BroncoGraveyard.com... I did this same swap on my 1986, and they had the perfect fit.

There may actually be another set of holes in the crossmember for different perches or even the same perches but just moved forward or rearward according to the motor. I would locate the 460 exactly how the donor truck has it and then move the transmission mount if needed (use the C6's crossmember if different and there may be more factory-stamped holes here as well). For example, with the '67-'72 trucks, the sixer and the FE big blocks use the same perches but they are riveted in different locations. I don't recall the exact measurement but the 6 cylinder perch is mounted about an inch or two forward of where the FE perch is located. The small blocks use an entirely different perch (shorter).

You'll want the radiator from the F250 too and if the F150 core support has a smaller opening, you may want to swap core supports or at least cut a bigger opening for the larger radiator. Don't forget to grab the front coils from the F250 too...that 460 will squash those straight 6 coil springs and throw your camber off. The stance might look cool but they won't properly support the weight of a 385 series big block!

Lastly, you may need to have the driveline modified...not sure how different the pinion lengths are between the two rears but you might luck out if the wheelbases are the same. You might want to hold onto the F250 rear and eventually just change the axles to maintain the 5 lug pattern at some point if and when you wear the 8.8 out.

Basically, use EVERYTHING you can from the F250...that 460 won't even know it's changed homes! Good luck with your project and keep us posted.

Okay here goes nothing. I hope you guys like pictures and rambling.

Here is a overview of the truck that I swapped the 460 in. The truck is a 1984 Ford F150 shortbed. The truck came with a I6 300, C4, and a 8.8 rear end. I bought the truck in October 2011 for $2400. The truck came with a 2 tone paint job that someone had done in there garage judging by the quality of the job. It doesn't look all that bad but there is some flaws in it. Truck also came with some Moderen wheels that are still on it. The reason why I wanted a bullnose truck (80-86) was because my dad had one when I was kid and I can remember growing up in that truck and I have alot of memorys in that truck as kid, So I knew one day I would have one. So I sold my current Nissan 240sx at the time and bought this truck, this was my first truck. Well enough typing here are some pictures of the truck, when I got it.




So I drove like this for a couple months until on new years eve. The brakes went out on me. The pedal got super soft and sank to the ground, So i figured this was the perfect time to start the build of the truck.

The first order of business on the F150 was to give a little TLC on the suspension, the pervious owner had lowered the truck the incorrect was, which was obivous when I bought it. The front springs were heated and collapsed, and the rear leaf spring was flipped. Here are some pictures


The springs in the back were Moog replacment springs CC822, Which I did not use, they were the heavy duty replacment for a F250, and Just didn't fit right.

Nice build. I just bought an 83 shortbox to fix up. Them coils you took out look like an expensive high performance setup. Haha

Haha yea, that truck was the worst riding vehicle I have ever been in. No rear shocks, collapsed springs, riding on the bumpstons on the frame. It was a bouncy truck non the less.
Okay, well last time I was on here, I had just removed the susspension that came on the truck. So here is some pictures of the progress that came afterwords.

The ugly 300 before it got yanked.




Me and my dad pulling the 300 out of the blue truck. Wasnt all that bad being for my first engine pull. Gotta love how simple vehicles used to be, compared to new cars.



I couldn't leave the engine bay alone leaving it look all crappy, So first we soaked everything in sight with degresser. And started to prep the bay for some paint before the 460 went in.

So the next step in the process was to paint the engine bay once we got everything all cleaned up from the previous owners negligence. Man was that bay dirrrrty. Pretty much all I did was lightly sand everything so the paint would stick to it, and throw some rattle can primer and some high gloss engine enamel on the fenders and firewall, and a satin black on the frame rails.






So once that was all taken care of the next thing was to get the 460, and the C6 out of my current daily driver which was a 1985 Ford F250, that I bought for $500, it was a running truck. Only thing it needed was fresh gas and a new battery. Here are some of the pictures from that.

Well I couldn't put that nasty looking engine in my newly painted bay, So the motor got freshened up too. Painted the block old ford blue, painted the heads and valve cover aluminum, painted the pulleys graphite. And gave it a tune up with new wires,plugs,cap,rotor. Replaced the intake manifold with a Weiand, rebuild the 600cfm edelbrock, got some Hooker headers, Stage 8 locking header bolts, put in a msd 6al.
