Question 302 motor

Hey folks I have a question on my brothers behalf. He has a 1990 f150 custom with a straight 6 engine and we were wonder what kind of job it would be swap out the i6 with a 5.0 302 from a 1990 grand marquis.
Does the trannys bolt up the same? and the mounting bracets etc.?

If the Ford trucks are like the cars, then the K-member is different from the inline 6ers to the V6/V8's. Did they use the 300 straight 6 in the 1990 trucks?

I cannot remember off hand, but I don't think the 1990 Grand Marquis is a HO motor, so that puts its power at 150hp and 270 ft-lbs. The 300ci that's already in there is pretty close to those numbers already with 150hp and 260 ft-lbs.

So my question is, what is reason of the swap, just to go through all this hassle for no gains? Are the bearings toast?

Personally, Id take a 300 straight six over a 302 just because the 300 six will run forever, but if he really wants to do the swap it wouldnt be that hard to do.
