Thanks, it was the rubber inlet hose that was leaking, the hose clamp had bit into the rubber and it had several spots where the rubber had been eaten through along the hose showing cloth. Replaced with much thicker rubber.

Could have been the root of the problem all along. Fuel pump could have been sucking air.

Check the catalytic converters. My 1995 F150 would run great for 2hrs and then nothing. They were on the way to being completely clogged.

My truck doesn't have any catalytic converters. Not required in my state for vehicles older than 83 if I remember correctly.

An ignition coil can cause this as well. Granted that it was "just replace" doesnt mean it is not bad.
Also taking the battery out of the equation doesnt mean squat with an alternator. Yes it very well may run the engine, But you are at idle in your driveway with zero load on the engine. We need voltage. If it is at 12.5 VDC than it is bad, SHould be around 13.8-14.4VDC. I have chased that issue before. Also remember that electronics, once hot act different. Resistance can increase and wires can open up internally.

Electrical issues are the worst to trouble shoot.

Looking at the bottom image with the distributor, while THAT looks new, the wires have insulation falling off of them and the coil doesnt really look new. Also the wires on the top of the coil to me look loose. I would remove the coil wires and clean in there and put back. Also the sparkplug wires should be replaced.

Got a pic of a spark plug????

Cool truck BTW, is it a 4 speed?
