sat for awhile and now wont start. Third day working on it.. couldnt get it to run. Replaced two crap tfis with a good working one, checked for spark yesterday and got a orange one, and did not check today. I tried playing around with the timing today, and had it run for a fraction of a second and then it quit. The 302 is fuel injected and has a eec iv with tfi and breakerless dizzy. I dont know why it is not starting.
this is what I think:
Fuel Pump, now fixed
Spark weak and orange
timing? could be varying or jumped chain
cranks and sometimes fires
smoke comes out of the pcv breather if engine fires

Please help, I like challenges.

okay changed fuel filter in switcher unit. Engine is trying to start, can hear cylinders firing as a freind cranked it over while I rotated the distributor. Still belive it to be a fuel problem.

id check timing first

did that. Had freind crank motor over until i felt compression on the number one cylinder and aligned the distributor rotor with the #1 marking on the cap.

replaced fuel filter, have lots of fuel pressure now. engine is trying to start but i think there is more fuel related problems. Rear gas tank cap is missing, going to find another one, from pick n pull. Would a really worn timing chain cause it not to start? this thing has 350,000 kms on it

Got it. Went to pick n pull got a distributor, and eec iv computer. Put that in and aligned the distributor and it started right up.

Does anyone have a good quality picture that shows weatherstripping and back window installed on vehicle, with the weatherstripping on correct? Mines on wrong
