1985 F150 Stalls after reaching temp
Hi guys. Could really use some help, I am stumped!
Here's the specs:
1985 Ford f150 XLT Lariat
5.0L V8 302 engine
2 BBL Carb
VIN F series
Truck starts perfect, purrs like a kitten. Once it reaches operating temp it stalls out, shuts down.
I ran the codes and get only one - code 31
There are only 2 causes for this in the book:
Faulty EGR valve position sensor (which I have now replaced and same situation)
EVAP control system below minimum voltage
Any good ideas are very welcome!!
Sidenote: I have been working on this truck for a while now. Within the last year all of the following has been replaced/rebuilt
Entire ignition system except distributor
Entire fuel system (including lines)
valve cover gaskets
Professionally rebuilt carburetor
Ignition control module
EGR valve position sensor

Following your posting due to similar problems
I have an ongoing post of trying to find why my 1984 F150 302V8 with CA emission equipment is also idling oddly after warming up....mine just drops a few hundred rpms
and no longer dies....
Hope we get more suggestions to find these odd problems - I have code 21 and 41.. changed the ECT and am chasing the 41 code solution.
