Default 1984 F150 ignition question

Hey folks......new to forum.....I stumbled into an issue with the key switch on my truck not wanting to stay in run position after starting.....sometimes you can hold it in run and it will stay running. Noticed some wiggle in it too......

.....what should I look into for fixing this? Does the steering wheel have to be removed to access? This is a problem I've never encountered before and would like some insight on what to expect/look for when i get my hands on it this weekend......thanks in advance everybody......lazy

Does it have a tilt steering wheel? If so there could be gunk in the rod or it could just be the ignition switch at the bottom of the steering column out of adjustment. I'm betting the ignition switch is to high on the column and out of adjustment.

Hope this helps
