Engine , tranny, gearing, condition. 2 or 4wd. All sorts of variables. Anywhere from 45-50 to well over 120. But if its all stock i dont think id go much over 70 with the stock brakes.

I have a 79 with 4.56 gears and I don't think I go over 60 mph, manual. I get terrible gas mileage driving on the highway 6 to 8, but once I get out hunting I can drive around all day, at low speeds.

Our '77 long bed has a 302 and gets 17-18 mpg most of the time with a camper shell.

The spedo only goes to 85 and I've buried it a couple times.

I have a 1978 F-150 with a 400 and a 4 spd. It gets 9 MPG and it doesn't matter if it is empty, fully loaded, going uphill, downhill, with the wind or against the wind. 9 MPG is all you will squeeze out of that Old Girl.

My 79 f150 is comfortable at 55mph not screaming yet (doesn't like going past 60) and gets about 5-6mpg.
