1965 F-100 Automatic Steering Column
Hello, I have a 1965 F-100 that has a C-4 transmission in it. The shifter is in the steering column. It is extremely difficult to engage the transmission into drive and reverse is really hard. My question is this: Will a later model steering column work in this truck and if so what year is the best to put in it? The steering wheel is an aftermarket wooden one and I wanted to continue to use it. If this column could be repaired I would like any information for someone that could repair it. Thanks for your help. Mark

Keep me posted. For reference and further swaps (power steering, power brakes, front disk brakes ect.), the frames for the 1965 - 1976 F-100's did not change hardly at all. All the power equipment from those years can be retrofitted onto your truck with the exception of the power brake booster (must come from a 65 or 66 because of difference in firewall shape and a bit hard to find). Very easy and inexpensive upgrades to do.

Installing Mustang bucket seats in a 1965 f100
Hello, Do you or anyone out there know where to purchase the bucket seat brackets for installing 1965/66 Mustang seats in a 1965 f100? If I had a drawing to go by I could fabricate them also. Thanks

For the seat brackets you may have a hard te finding them. The only F100's that had them was the Ranger model. As far as I know, the seats were stock Mustang but the brackets were peciluar to the Ranger.

Replacing my 1965 F-100 power steering box.
Hello, I installed the "new" automatic steering column from a donor 1972 truck and it is working great. My power steering box is leaking really bad from the seal on the pitman shaft and I have access to the steering box from the 1972 truck that my column came out of. My question is this: Is this a bolt in replacement and if not what modifications will I have to do? Thanks for all the help I have gotten! Mark

If I recall correctly, the steering box should bolt up to the inside of the frame with three bolts. It should be a direct replacement from a 72. I got mine from a 76. The only thing to watch out for is the length of the shaft coming out of the steering box that connects to the steering column. Check to make sure it is the same length and has same spline pattern as on the box that is leaking. If it is, you are good to go.
