1961 f100 spark plugs
What is a good upgraded spark plug for a 223 ci 6 cylinder in a 1961? I know it was a champion 870 but I'm looking for a plug that will spark a bit hotter. Thanks in advance.

For what it's worth, Champions website says it takes a stock #22 or an RF11YC plug.

The Stock #870 appears to be an RDJ6J plug.
That being said, if you want to take Champions listing up a heat range use a stock #21 which is an RF14YC.
If you want to take your heat range up one use a stock #860 which is an RDJ7J.
The plugs are not interchangeable. The #870 is a 14mm thread, .325" Reach, 5/8 head, taper seat plug.
The #21 is 18mm thread, .460" reach, 13/16 hex, taper seat plug.
You may have a newer style head on your 223cid.
I got this information from http://www.federalmogulmp.com/en-US/...ge%20Chart.pdf
