White Engine smoke
Hey guys! Just found this site - this is great!
here is my problem. I just bought a 1999 f150 reg cab with a 4.6 V8. Truck now has 138,000 miles on it but it still runs strong and none of the engine check lights are on. Just recently I've had a problem that only occurs at start up. When I start the engine (and it doesn't matter if it's warm or cold - the engine) a huge cloud of white smoke billows out of the exhaust - then everything is fine. It drives fine without any further smoking. Could this be a malfunctioning injector?

well white smoke is usually condensation smoke, if the truck is using water, that is a sign of a blowed headgasket or a cracked head or block. Check to see if the truck is using water or if the inside of the oil cap looks like choclate milk, if so thats a blowed headgasket. You can also check to see is the water resavior is bubbling when the truck is running, that means that the compression of the motor is leaking into the cooling system.
