where is the scan hook up on 96 f150
Hello All.
I'm working on my 96 f150 with 5.8 litre I have an evap purge valve code. I hook up my snap on brick (scan Tool) to the obd2 port. then it tells me the code. but for diagnostic it says to hook up under the hood on the left side, I don't see the plug. I looked in the whole engine bay. any Ideas where it is or if there is one? 96 seems to be the switch over year. Thanks

Good luck with that Frankenford. It is indeed the cross over year between obd1 and obd2.
Pretty sure a break out box is required to journey into the area of emission related diag for that y/m.

obd2 will read codes only
yes there is an obd2 connector but it will read codes only, I can not go into diagnostic, My snap on brick tells me to hook up under the hood for this, but there is no connector there. Still looking for my purge valve problem. I am checking for and I have voltage at the plug but the valve doesn't open. Tonight I put a wire to the green with black stripe wire and it opens. so I am tracing that wire for a break. If I can find the wire in the pcm I may try running a new wire out to there. Hope I find it soon!
