Whats the best CAM PHASER remedy!
Hey guys, I'm going too have the Cam Phasers replaced on my 2008 Ford F-150 XLT 5.4 supercrew 4X4 w/69,000 miles.
I've heard of many different ways too deal with these troublesome parts, but doe's anyone know the ultimate fix for this problem? (brand of part, eliminators used or not used etc) I would like to deal with this once and have it done totally correct. Thanks in advance fellow Ford Owner!!

I work in a ford dealership and normally can phasers both sides with new tensioners and VCT solinoids runs about 1000.00 parts and labor. How ever I do not recommend running a thicker oil due to the tight tolerances of these engines I have seen many people due this and end result 5k dollars for parts and labor of an engine.

But that's not the case based on what I've read.

That I am very surprised to hear I deal a great amount with fleets from city of Albuquerque to gas company and electric company and all run the recommended oil and stay very current with the 5k interval now I have voided warranties due to the miss abuse of the engine. Being lack of service Incorrect grade of oil and general maintenance. I just recently had a guy come in that was running ams oil in a 2008 f150 5.4l after hitting 10k miles on his oil got a ticking noise and one was phasers and lower end. I tore him a new one for destroying a good engine especially when he stated that ford can't build a engine to save there *** and he should buy a Chevy. Need less to say I did do phasers and repaired his truck properly. All that I am saying is if something is wrong with a vehicle fix it properly and all will go good.
And sorry for the long reply lol

Under Magnuson Moss, a dealer pretty much has to show how your use of a different oil caused the damage. I'm not all that sure that just saying new engines have tight tolerences and thicker oil causes failure would get you there.
