How ever I do not recommend running a thicker oil due to the tight tolerances of these engines I have seen many people due this and end result 5k dollars for parts and labor of an engine.
There are fleets across the country who use 10w-40, in everything, for longevity. If these fleets had widespread ticking and noise issues, there would be a nationwide uproar.
But that's not the case based on what I've read.
