There's a shake at idle, not in park though, just idle while stopped. Goes away with more gas. Idles at 600 rpm which I'm told is where it should be. When braking to stop it drops to 400 rpm then bounces back up just past 600 then settles down on 600. Not sure if that's normal but the shake shouldn't be there. It's got new plugs, had a misfire on cylinder 1 that's been fixed. I'm thinking maybe an IAC or EGW issue but I'm not sure. I'm planning on getting a scanner (maybe an app) and a multimeter and testing the systems manually.

She's got 178000 miles on her, engine rebuild in 2011. Tranny rebuild in September. No codes, and no major issues. Just wanna take care of her and make her last. Been in my family three generations now. Was my grandfathers, my mothers, now mine.

It's like SeaFoam or MMO with the major difference being it actually works and isn't snake oil... it goes into the crank case and dissolves built up crap and gunk, very slowly, and does an incredible job of it.

I've been using Lucas Fuel injector cleaner in every tank of gas (87 octane) and been thinking about using their oil stabilizer in my next oil change. But haven't done any research on it.

So how would I use it, just put it in the oil next oil change?

Lucas... yeah, avoid all that crap. I get it, I'm going to get yelled at by a bunch of old dudes whose last sixteen generations have used it in their cotton gins and logic machines but that doesn't mean it works. Head over to BITOG and read the data sheets.

Oil stabilizer is garbage. All it really is oil thickener. Oil doesn't need to be stabilized.

Now I will say their stop-chatter works pretty well on transmissions, but again, it's basically just really thick oil, nothing magical.

Their fuel system cleaner technically does work but barely. It does contain polyetheramine, like any real fuel system cleaner has, but if you want one that will do an actual job, use Techron or Redline S-1 or Gumout (with Regane). Stop separating money from your wallet on "injector cleaner" or "upper cylinder lubricant."

I just do what the directions say. I think it's recommended 3oz per quart of oil, but I just put in a half pint every 1000mi (when I remember... )

Not sure if the pictures in that thread were just blocked by my work place or if they aren't on the site, but read the replies. That's after someone put Kreen in their transmission.

Woah... I think I'll give that a try. Not in the tranny, at least not till I talk to my tranny guy about it. Doubt it needs it as it's just been built.

But it looks like it aught to clean the engine internals really well.

Though, I'm gunna switch to fill synthetic oil first. See if that helps, then choose an additive/cleaner. One step at a time to isolate the problem and solution. Try too many things at once and I'll never know what actually worked...
