weird turn signal problem
I have a 2000 scab lariat and a little over a month ago my right turn signal flasher in the dash started to flash faster. I got out and checked out the front and rear signals and the front was flashing at the same speed as the dash flasher(fast) and the rear wasnt flashing at all. at the time I didnt have to me to test anything and several days later it went away and went back to normal as the normal speed and the rear worked. then just a couple days ago, it started doing this again, same thing, I can't see an obvious reason. any suggestions on what I should do?

If the turn signal bulb, or the brighter filament of a dual filament bulb (for single tail light bulb functioning as parking and brake/turn signal), has burned out, the remaining bulb on that circuit will flash faster than normal...front flashing fast, rear not working (burned out). If trouble comes and goes, may be a loose bulb or damaged socket or wire at the socket.

I bought a 98 a couple of months ago with, what sounds like, a similar problem. I found that the signal worked fine when I move the tilt wheel up. Turned out to be a couple of wires in the column assembly had pulled loose from the connector. Tilting up, pushed them back in. It was an easy fix.

Do these cars have blinker relays? I remember my 78 Oldsmobile Cutlass having the same issue and it just needed a new blinker fuse relay. It was a relay that was in the fuse box. Maybe these trucks also use these relays. Check your manual it may say something about blinker relays.

My '01 did the same and it was a loose connection at a plug/socket in steering column, but original post was not about an entire signal circuit working then not working, his was about one bulb working while the other on same circuit didn't and the one that did, flashed fast as if the other was burned out. When my wiring in the steering column had a problem, neither bulb flashed on that circuit until the wheel was adjusted more into the upright position. I don't think these two problems are the same.

Sorry, don't have anything, can't find it online. Maybe a Chilton's or Hayes repair manual might have something helpful. Maybe someone else here has something.
