Is it just the ecoboost models that are affected?

I have the 2013 F150 King Ranch 4WD. I have finally found where I'm supposed to be. I have the very same thing happening and can find NO ONE WHO KNOWS what the hell it can be. I bought mine used last August. Vibes started this winter. I bought the extended bumper to bumper until about 126K. I don't want to take it for them to tell me everything is fine. I don't know what to do. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone?

A ford mechanic diagnosed mine as wheel bearing last week. With that said I haven't done the repair so don't know if thats the cause or not.

After digging into mine all the way they found the problem in the front differential. At least the on and off grinding noise is coming from the gears. They will drop the front dif out of the truck next Tuesday and see exactly what is failing. Glad I got the warranty.

Had it in to the dealer, but they could not reproduce the issue. Taking it back in this week as the problem is getting worse.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
If it is 4x4 it is probably a IWE, solenoid, or check valve for 4 wheel drive vacuum system.

Just bought a used 2013 with the EcoBoost with 96,000 miles on it and mine just started making this same noise after a car wash. Has anyone been able to found out for sure the problem and cause?

There are a lot of threads on this. The most common cause of the problem is a $10 part; the IWE vacuum check valve. A lot of times, the dealer will replace the actuators themselves and say they fixed the problem only to find out that it starts doing it again because the check valve was actually the problem causing the actuators to try to engage and begin grinding. I'm not trying to say that it is ALWAYS the check valve, but I've seen numerous times on this forum where the dealer replaced everything else BUT the check valve and it continues to have the problem.

Additionally, I remember reading that the IWE solenoid on certain year models had a recall because it would allow water to enter it and cause the same symptoms. Basically, they replaced the solenoid with one that had a hood over it to keep water from coming down from the windshield direction and get into it. This could be why you noticed it after the car wash.

Those are the two things that I would replace; check valve and solenoid (if your year model had the recall on it). For less than $50, you'd probably be good to go after that.

My 17 has started to make a noise when I'm braking at low speeds 5-10 mph. It doesn't do it in reverse, only going forward. I can kind of feel it slightly in the brake pedal kind of like a grinding sensation. It sounds like something is on the brake rotor because as I'm rolling to a stop the noise changes with the rolling of the truck. I put it in 4x4 because I heard to test that and see if it does it And it still did it. I had it at the dealer 2 weeks ago for an oil change and I asked them to check the brakes because something didn't sound right and I could feel it in the pedal. They said brakes and rotors all looked good.

Could this be an IWE issue still even if this noise is happening in 4wd?

Best way to describe the sound is it sounds like dragging a snow shovel over the asphalt when shoveling snow
