ghostrider24 vbmenu_register("postmenu_50346", true); --- there is links above too. The reason is explained on the forum, but in a nutshell. The stock plugs have a tendency to get stuck in the head and break when you try to remove them, so you will have to replace the heads to change the plugs. So spend a little $ to save alot of $$$$$$$$$

I think regardless of the brand plug your still going to get the same carbon buildup due to the length of the plug. I maybe wrong but it seems irrelevant, Ford has a crappy design and only a head redesign will fix it.
They have us 5.4 owners by the ***** and all we can do is prematurely change these plugs to prevent any problems. I think Ford should be picking up the tab for changing plugs before there supposed 100K life span.
And on another note I personally am screwed because i'll never buy a dodge or a chevy so I'm stuck changing plugs.

Ran across this concerning changing the plugs on a 5.4. After looking at this I am sure glad I have a 302 V8 in my truck.

And here is a source for your sparkplugs.

For an engine that is found in such large numbers it seems your choices for spark plugs are
some what limited. I have long favored Bosch platinum.
I just learned a real interesting thing, if you are running NOX do not use
platinum plugs, use Iridium instead.

Trashmaster I mean no disrespect, whoever wrote that article in the first link dosen't know his tail from a hole in the ground. The 4.6 are COP now too. You do not have to remove the fuel rail.. Well at least on the pre 3v 5.4 you didn't. The plug he showed is pre 3v. TSB 06-15-2 states what I have said for years.. Do not put antiseize on the threads. On the new plugs you can put it on the blank area below the threads not on the threads. The new plugs are a 9/16 not 5/8.

I was wondering if anyone on here had used bosch... a couple of years ago i had a camaro with a mildly built 350 in it... I used acdelco and could not get them to last... i used bosc with the 4 point on the end and tada... they lasted and lasted even after i traded the car off...
I love Platinums!
