Turn signal problem

Turn signal problem
Hi, I'm trying to figure out a turn signal problem with my 1998 F-150 truck.
The right-rear turn signal was blinking rapidly, so I replaced all 4 turn signal bulbs (front/back) for good measure.
Still got the same problem afterwards. Pulled the fuse box, and didn't see anything wrong.
Now, this is the strange part. I wanted to test my hazards lights, so I push the hazard button down, and bam!
- Left/right turn signal lights and dashboard indicators don't work now.
- Brake lights don't work now.
- Nothing happens when the hazard button is pushed now.
- No lights, no blinking, no clicking sounds.
I checked the fuse box under the dash again, but I don't see anything wrong.
What the heck is going on?
Why would pushing the hazard button kill all my lights?
They named that button well.
Note that the front headlights and all interior lights work ok.
And the steering column is adjustable, but I never use it.
And the only electrical work I know of on this truck is when it was sent in for a
cruise control recall a couple years ago. I have no idea if my recent problems are related.
Seems unlikely.
And this is the first time this has ever happened before.

Ok, here's a very important question:
- In what position should the hazard button be to turn it off? Up or down?
- How do I know if it's on or off? (Assuming my hazard lights don't work.)
- Are there any dashboard indicators that tell me whether it's on or off?
- When I push the hazard button up/down, should I hear any clicking sound?
- If the hazard button is on, is the wiring system setup to automatically turn off my turn signals and brake lights?
The manual doesn't say.

The manual says Relay 1 is the "Flasher Relay". I'm guessing this controls turn signals and hazzard lights,
because the manual doesn't adequately explain this fact for non-tech people.
And I've never been in a situation where I had to use my hazzard lights before, so I honestly don't
know what it looks like. All I know is, this button doesn't seem to be doing anything, regardless whether
my ignition is on or off.
And since this button doesn't do anything, I really don't know if it's in the "off" position or if it's in
the "on" position. The manual fails here too.
I don't suppose if this button was accidently wired backwards (probably unlikely), it would cause any problems?

There should be 2 relays for hazards and turn signals under the dash to the right of the instrument cluster and they should have a cover over them, the hazard relay may be blue, thats how it is on my f 150,it may be that relay, and i want to say the up position engages the hazards

up is on down is off, the hazards should kill your break lights (except your third) and your turn signals wouldn't work when you hazards are on... sounds like a bad hazard switch to me but I've never had that issue before
