truck won't stay running
I have a 1985 f150....getting intermittent fuel....replaced carb, fuel pump, filter. ....any ideas...its my son's 1st truck, and I wanna get it running for him.

There are only 3 things that you need to make an engine run, 1-fuel, 2-ignition (spark) and 3-air. When you say "It won't stay running" I assume it starts and runs for a while. If that's the case there is a fuel issue. Check for any aftermarket fuel filters that may have been installed prior to you owning the truck.Again I'm assuming you changed the factory filter under the truck. Also you can use a bottle and hose to feed the carb externally and bypass the fuel tank to see if the filter sock or the the lines are partially clogged . Good luck

Is the fuel pump electric or mechanical? If mech., the lobe on the camshaft that drives it can wear down reducing the volume & pressure from the pump.
Also check for any open/broken vacuum hoses.
