Default Trans problem on my 2010 FX4

Coming home this morning during very light acceleration going into 2nd gear I heard a loud thud RPMs went up(because my foot was still on the pedal) and speed went down. So after coasting to the shoulder I hopped out and checked under to see if driveline fail or any visible problems and there weren't any also with it in park i can push it...like it rolls in park.

is there like a neutral safety switch or something that'll toss the trans in neutral?

The rear diff. may have went out. Start it up, put it in gear, make sure it can't roll of course, and see if the driveshaft turns. If not that, it's probably trans. related.
