trans leak
2002 f150, i think my drive shaft caused my trans to leak. i replaced my u joints a couple of months ago and accidentaly moved a metal ring thats around the yoke and now my trans is leaking out of the rear. is that metal ring a balancer? do i need to replace it or balance it before changing the rear trans seal?

Take that metal ring off. Its supposed to be a balancer. What happens is it slips on the drive shaft and causes a vibration. Is supposed to be like the harmonic balancer on the engine. The tail shaft seal is very easy to replace. It is possible that the seal was damaged removing and or installing the driveshaft. It was prolly hard and moving the ds cracked it.

.. now that i think of it.. i was driving form orlando to panama city for a big show and about 4 hours into the trip I could feel sum vibratioon in the rear end at high speeds(we were crusing at about 100+) and i stopped and my tranny was smoking and had tranny fluid all over my tailgate... Blew the rear seal $8 fix.
