Towing behind a motorhome
We live in our motorhome and are fulltime travelers and have been pulling a Jeep Rubicon around with us for years but have decided to order a F150 to drag around so I have a question.
Would you think some sort of break-in period should be done before pulling it or should it be good to go as soon as we get it?
As soon as the truck comes in and we get it ready to tow behind (install a baseplate and breaking system) we will be headed towards Colorado.
I was thinking maybe 500 miles?, your thoughts?

If its a 4x2 you will need to disconnect the drive shaft or have a disconnect coupling installed. for flat towing. Not sure about about 4x4 ford system. Like you I have flat towed jeeps for many miles. I would check with RV dealer and ford both to get there input and not the sales staff.

The 1,000 mile break-in is designed to make sure you don't stress things unduly. Engine and transmission. You will have the engine off and the transmission in full neutral, so it should be ready to go. When you are driving (not towing) it, follow the guidelines for break-in in your manual.

I also just bought a new 2016 f150 xlt 4x4 with the 3.5 eco boost engine. I want to pull it behind my motorhome as well. Will my 2015 35' southwind with the ford triton v10 be powerful enough? What other types of rvs are people pulling these with. Also any thoughts on tow hitches and braking systems. Any help appreciated

I will be installing a Blue Ox base plate on the truck and have a 10,000lb rated Blue Ox tow bar. For breaking I will install a Air Force 1 braking system to the truck but we have air brakes on the motorhome.
