Hi everybody, Simple question. I have an 08 f150 with the 18" fx4 rims. I need to rotate my tires, the manual says to take the Left front tire and put it on the Right Rear. The right front goes on the left rear and the two rear tires just move straight to the fornt, is this correct. I was always told never to change the direction of the tire rotation. Thanks

The way that you described is the way I've always done it and I have never had any problems. What you said makes sense though and has me stumped. With a directional tire, you would basically be putting it on backwards.

I have never heard of stock tires being directional unless they are high performance tires.

Are the stock rims directional. I have directional rims on my F150 with non-directional tires. A lot of tires directional and for some of the radial patterns it is recommended to rotate just front to back check the dealer or a tire shop for your tires.

Directional tires are marked on the sidewall, they will say rotation and have arrows pointing in one direction. Directional rims just have a pattern in the way the rim is made and will be reversed pattern on the left and right side of the vehicle. It doesn't really matter which rims are on the left or right unless they are directional for brake cooling. Radial tires used to be rotated front to back and bias-plys were rotated around to both sides of the vehicle but tire design has changed and radials are better now so they now can be rotated to either side also.

4X4 you will always cross the tires. i.e...Left Front to Right Rear, 4x2 Bring the rears to the front and the cross the front, and for directionals, that should be pretty easy to figure out.
