Default Timing Chain

Hey guys,

My f150 is throwing the old p0012 code and I've had a few techs drive the car and they said that the timing is definitely off. They've told me that they believe it's the phasers going bad, so I figured I would have my mechanic just replace the whole timing system. He charges $25 hour so it shouldn't punch me too hard. Anyways, I'm here to ask if this is a smart idea to begin with and if you could recommend me the best timing set to purchase? There's also a slight misfire on banks 1-4 but the sparkplugs were just changed 8k miles ago.

I don't know too much about the mechanics behind cars, but I trust you guys in getting me the right parts to pass on to my mechanic. I know he can probably buy them, but I'd like to know what's going in is quality.

Thanks,

Mathew

I've heard the Dorman phasers and components are good quality. No personal experience though.

I read a few reviews and threads today that many people had issues soon after getting those...

How long of job is it to just replace the phasers?
