Third Brake Light Leaking

Third Brake Light Leaking
My third brake light is leaking. I took it to the shop and they charged me $70 to fix it. That was a couple of months ago. Well, they didn't get it fixed because it's still leaking. Tried putting gasket maker on my gasket and that didn't help either. My latest attempt was to completely seal the gap between the light and the truck body with gasket maker... like caulking it. That didn't fix the problem either because I'm still leaking. I'm running out of ideas, guys. Can you please shoot me some ideas? I really need my truck to not leak.

My 2009 SuperCrew does the same thing! Dealer replaced mine as well, and well you know. ....it's still leaking I can't stop it at all.... my head liner is even water stained! I'd also like to know of any way to stop it.

Sorry to hear abt your brake light leak. Maybe you can try resealing them, use a hair dryer to make sure the gasket's no longer wet when you seal it so it's tight.
They usually tell us gasket makers (silicone) would seal those leaks, but i've noticed quite a few people say it doesn't solve the problem completely. Anyway, hope it gets fixed.

This is a long outstanding Ford problem. The correct fix is the removal of the headliner, the removal of the back seat, the removal of the glass and all the surrounding trim. It is not just the 3rd brake light leaking. This requires an extensive R&R to fix it right.

First off - what is actually leaking? The 3rd brake light or the rear window?
The brake light is simple to seal - i have a '08 and it leaked as soon as I bought it come (it was used). Siliconed it and its all good now. No leaks.
Shows us pictures of the silicon job.

My 2013 KR light looked like a fish bowl less the fish. The dealer R&R the light and it also leaked so I replaced it with a ANSO led light, it has a much better gasket. Now we're good to go, it's been a year with no problems.

I just experienced the same problem with my 2005 lariat...tried the silicon solution with no success. Ordered a new third break light assembly from Amazon, replaced the old assembly and got rid of the leak.
