Default Stripped heavy duty torx bolt

Before I start grinding with my dremel, what's the best way to get this out?
Need to install my tailgate assist. I had a SeaBee break three drill bits getting the mounting plate ready, so I must finish this project LOL.

It doesn't look stripped.
Anyway, remove the tailgate cable and use vise grips or large channel locks or large pipe wrench.

Exactly what ^ he said... Set your purse down, get out your biggest pair of ViseGrips, put your big boy pants on, and wrench on that *****.

Penetrating oil helps well

It is stripped. Pipe wrench is a good idea.
Penetrating oil daily last five days.
Now go cook your husband some dinner.

Time to get flamed.

In haste, I bought star bits (1/2") at harbor freight.
The are all slightly rounded st the tips/ends.
Should they be? Also picked up a set of 3/8", same tips.

Be careful. I think there is a plastic bushing over the small diameter where the tailgate latch grabs the pin. There's also paint all around.

Maybe try an impact driver. The kind you hit with a hammer.

Great idea. I have one of those. Snap-on that my grandfather left me. It is really great for stuff like that.
