Question Steering vibration at 70 mph

Hello all,

I have a 2010 F150 4x4, mostly stock with Oem Goodyear wranglers. No suspension mods at all. At 70 mph I get some pretty violent feedback in the steering wheel. It starts going away by 80 mph. Does anybody have any idea where I should start countering this issue at?

Thanks

Brandon

P.S. tires are at 50% tread wear

I had a similar situation (between 45-52MPH) and it ended up being a bad coil on plug. Had no check engine light, no idling issues, just that stumble that vibrated the engine/cab/steering wheel.

Just a thought.

All,
Thanks for the responses so far...have an update with more "symptoms." I took a 120 mile trip this weekend and have noticed the vibration is intermittent. Seems more prevalent when i hit the brakes at speed.

Thanks

Brandon

when it starts shaking, pop it into "N" but try to maintain the same vehice speed. If the shaking continues it's a "vehicle speed" related vibration. Wheels/Tires/driveline. Ford dealers have a cool tool to help diag vibrations.

If the vibration goes away as soon as you pop it out of gear, it maybe an "engine speed" related vibration. Downshift into the next lower gear but maintain the same RPM as when it "vibrates" if the vibration is there, it could be a mssfire or engine accessory vibration.

Thanks for all the replies...truck went into the shop today and had tires balanced and rotated, also had rotors resurfaced. I was only on the highway for a few miles but it seems that the problem is resolved.

Thanks everybody
