Default steering column question

pulled steering column out of my gf's 2001 f150 lariat super cab/ crew cab and replacing with one i got @ a pick-n-pull out of a 1998. Ford told me 1997 - 2003 given same model truck that any years stated above columns can be used, so i got it home and big black plug wiring harness #'ers ( i think go mainly to blinker assembly and hazards)caught my eye - same plugs, same layout, identicle columns EXCEPT numbers on the columns harness.
original columns harness number is XL34 14A320 P260G with big "A B" ....( and smaller sticker says made in mexico " 00D")
ok 98 replacement column's harness says: XL34 14A320 P260Y "A A" (made in mexico " " 8 L ")
Will this column work given different numbers on harness?

Ford used both Mexican and Canadian vendors to produce engine and body parts. Some of these vendors changed even during a generation series, thus changing the part numbers. There may be a difference in the number of active pins in the new (replacement) column if it has cruise control buttons or radio controls or if they are deleted. If the plug fits (matches)the basics will work.
