Default Starting up from storage

I've always ran winter beaters from October to April but I never really worried about oil starvation because the summer vehicles I had weren't super fancy either.

Well I splurged last year and bought a 2011 FX4, most expensive vehicle I've ever owned. I plan to take it out of storage in April and it has been sitting dormant since November with the battery disconnected.

Is there anything I can do to get oil to the top end before starting the truck in the spring? I have the 5.0.

I've read some racers using electric oil pumps to keep oil circulating before the mechanical pump catches and starts to flow but really not necessary for normal applications. Make sure you use a Motorcraft oil filter, it has a check valve that minimizes oil flow wait time, sort of a pre-charge of oil.

Oil was changed at the dealer so should be ok there. I guess it's no different than it sitting on the lot for 6 months? Probably shouldn't worry too much about it.

You could tip it on it's side for a few minutes.
