Slip Yoke Clunk. 15,000 miles, still gone.
Just an update on the '07 FX2 SCAB I bought in June 2013. It had a bad slip-yoke clunk which I parlayed into a several thousand dollar discount, then serviced with Motorcraft XG-8.
15,000 miles later it's still smooth and quiet.

Awesome, thanks for updating us YEARS later. Wish more people followed up when they find a fix for something.

Here's another update on the '07 FX2 SCAB. Been 5 years and 70,000 miles since the last service of the DS slip yoke. The clunk finally returned so last night pulled the shaft and repeated the procedure. With a twist.
After removing the bolts from the U-Joint flange at the differential, it just wouldn't let go. I hammered and pried as much as I was comfortable with so I did something different. The rear wheels were on ramps so with the parking brake on, and holding the brake pedal, I started the truck and rocked it back and forth from D to R several times and even juiced the throttle slightly until I heard the flange squeak loose. Then it pried off easily with a short prybar. (I had soaked the joint with Pblaster prior to doing this.)
Center carrier bearing was still fine as were the U-joints so it was a simple clean, lube and replace. As far as the clamps on the rubber boot I used heavy duty UV resistant Zip-Ties and they were still on tight after 5 years so did the same thing again.
Here's to another 5 years and 70,000 miles.
