Default Shudder in Low RPM OD

Noob here with an issue.
2006 F150 4x4 with 120k on it and I've owned it for 8-9 months.

It shudders really bad at low RPM in OD when I try to accelerate slightly in OD or when it starts up a hill.

I've done searches on the site and it appears that a potential problem is spark plugs and COP's.

Questions:
Why would this cause the shuddering?
Is the shuddering from misfiring or poor ignition or is the shuddering from a slipping torque converter?

My first thought is a bum torque converter.

I'm thinking it very could be the plugs and COP because when sitting still it does stumble when I rev it up. Also when traveling and accelerate hard, which drops the tranny down a gear or two it stumbles and sounds like it is misfiring.

Thanks in advance for the help.
JP

Definitely plugs. Mine shuddered and thought it was the trans. Trans shop diagnosed it as a intermittent misfire, said they didn't touch the plugs on those, and wished me luck. Changed just the plugs and boots and cleared it right up

I'll give it a shot. How much did that run you?
Did you change plugs yourself?
I work on my cars a lot and always have, but wringing a plug off makes me nervous.

I don't remember the cost. I broke one with my dad and had to buy the $80 tool. Removal if a broken one isn't bad.

When you say boots, you are meaning the COP's, correct?

Has anybody got some suggestions on spark plug removal?
Put some PB or other break free stuff in there and let it sit over night?

I think we're talking about the same thing. The rubber pieces that go between the plug and the other black piece. And I just did the Liquid wrench approach

I just found the spark plug removal procedure for 2004-2008, which is very helpful.

Sounds like you are describing the current issue I am having with my 2006 F-150 with 120k. lol. Exactly.... Does your check engine light come on? Mine doesnt, which I think seems odd if its misfiring...It also seems to be worse when I dont have my K&N air filter clean, or when I have a stock filter in. Which again seems odd. Anyone know why those would impact whether it misfires due to spark plugs going bad? or coils?...

Is there anyway to test to know if that is the cause other than replacing and hoping? Possibly codes thrown but no check engine light?
