Default Is it shot.

My 05 F150 started whining really bad today. Rpms runs really high and don't want to change gears. I was at a stoplight trying to make it to my mechanic and it wouldn't go in drive, only in reverse. After a few minutes of messing with it I managed to drive it to walmart and am having it towed in. Guessing it would have to be the transmission going out. Only thing that makes sense to me.

Possible the torque converter went bad. Depending on how many miles you have on the truck and how much crap from the torque converter got into the trans will determine if you need a complete transmission too.
