Default revs high on start up

I was wondering if anyone knows why my truck always revs high on start up no matter what the temp its over 2000rpm for about 2 seconds then drops down to normal. Im sick of hereing that thats the way they are, Ive owned alot of vehicles never had this problem???? not getting any codes

Everybody is right. Over 2,000 RPM is excessive, wouldn't want it on my engine. But yes, a higher fast idle is required 1400-1600 is closer to normal. The computor sets the IAC, which is malfunctioning is the question I can't answer. Good luck, perhaps the proper tech advice will be along.

I agree with bill, I had the same problem with my '01. The "IAC" Idle Air Control" Was sticking. I thing I would start there also. Another thing to try is, spray all your vacume lines and intake plenums for a leak, could be sucking in to much air, In return causing the high Rpm.

Location of IAC is on the throttle body. Find the accelerator cable, it attaches to the throttle body. Bolted to it is the IAC, just a little bigger then 2 D cells batteries.
