proper oil to use
i just bought a 2004 f150 with the 5.4 seems to run pretty good but it does have a lil tick to it and i was going to change the oil in this weekend to make sure the shop i bought it off of use the right oil and oil filter and would like to know what is the best stuff to use in it i use to use snythetic blend in all my old truck

Old Question; Same Answer:
Use the weight/type specified in your owner's manual. The 5.4L equipped with Variable Valve Timing is quite critical where lube is concerned. As I recall its Motorcraft 5W20 semi-synthetic or its equivalent in a major brand. The Motorcraft filter is a very good choice as well.
If your engine does not have VVT, I'd use any major brand of full synthetic 0W30, 5W30 or 10W30 API M or N and a Motorcraft filter. My '97 XLT SOHC 4.6L likes Wal-Mart Supertech full synthetic 5W30 API N.
