Default Power Windows have gone crazy

So about a month ago my power windows stopped working. When the truck is running and I press windows up or down the light on the dash for heated mirrors blinks. When the truck is off but the key is in the ignition and I try windows up or down the dash board blinks with a bunch of different stuff.

Im sure I got some kind of short somewhere but not sure where to start.

Any ideas?

Tom

I concur Tom. Those can be a to trace/sort out. I have temporarily placed Factory service manual pages from window section for your truck in a Public folder on my server - you should be able to download and print or save them.

Hope this helps

Concentrate on the grounds, sounds like you have a bad one and the items your activating are trying to find it thru other circuits. One place that's common is the rubber boot that shrouds the wires in the door that go into the body, from the years of flexing they tend to break inside the insulation, easy way to tell is to pull on them and see if any stretch. You will have to split the rubber boot with a razor so you can remove it to check the harness.

Thumbs up PROBLEM solved

Hibbies

Thanks a million for the acknowledgment. It is great when a thread brings specific symptoms and a definite solution. I'm sure Rnlcomp will appreciate it too - as he was right-on! The window motor was finding a ground through all those other crazy acting circuits. Give him a good ole click on that Thanks button!
