Default Parking Brake light not working

I have a 2007 f-150 XL 4.2L 2wd,
So like the header says my parking brake light never comes on,

My first question is; is The Gauge cluster brake light supposed to come on when I engage the parking/emergency brake? (I'm pretty sure it is supposed to but I wanted to make sure),

Secondly, if it is supposed to come on like I think it should, would a broken wire on the brake fluid level sensor connector cause the fault in the wireing? There is one wire on the brake fluid level sensor connector that is broken, it is the only thing I can find that is wrong with the brakes. Would this broken wire cause the brake light to not come on when I press the Parking brake?

Thank you!

Yes the light should come on when the parking brake is engaged. All of the dash lights should light up for a second or so when you turn the key to run before starting, try that first and make sure the light works. The wire on the fluid level sensor definitely activates that light but I'm not sure how it is wired in with parking brake.
