Might be a stupid question but have you tried changing the coolant? Is the radiator clogged? Like I said may be stupid questions but just trying to offer suggestions.

I would go with either a clogged radiator or possibly a bad clutch fan. See if you can free spin the fan . If you have little or no resistance it can cause your truck to overheat

Yes, that's very common for the hose to collapse under return flow to the block.Depending on your engine the lower radiator hose should have a stainless steel spring inside. Some newer replacements don't have them but I always try to buy one with it.

thats not the problem. someone told me it could be caused by a clogged oil filter. is that possible?

Clogged oil filter should not have anything to do with it.

If the oil filter was clogged you would have a low oil pressure light or code. Most oil filter have a built in bypass spring anyway. The other possible reason could be your have a lean fuel mixture. This will run the motor hotter than normal. This can be caused by partially clogged fuel injectors, a blocked fuel filter or a weak fuel pump. I'd pull one of the plugs and see if it is white around the ceramic insulator. It should be dark power brown.
Also check your timing. If it's too far advanced this could be causing your problem.
