Not sure if tranny is slipping ?
Hey guys i got a 2010 xlt with the 5.4 , 4x4 , and the only place my truck seems like it 'slips' is going uphill .. the truck goes up to 2200-2000 rpm and then bogs down to 1800-1700 ..you would think it would continue going up in rpms but it drops a couple hundred for some odd reason ? Cannot tell if its in 2nd or 3rd gear . I have small winter tires on 245's and i have it tuned by sct as well , the truck has done this since before the tune .

Slip
First post might as well be trying to help! My truck had the same problem if it's what I think you are talking about. Mine would slip around 45-55mph and going uphill if I wasn't stepping on it. Almost more of like a shuddering than a slip though. Did some research and saw a thread on here of other guys having the same problem and someone suggested it might be a cylinder misfiring due to a bad plug. Figureded I needed to get mine changed anyways because I was at 100,000. Went out and swapped all the plugs and it fixed the completely, no more shuddering

Awesome!!! I was kind of leaning towards this .I have another post on here , wondering if i should change boots AND plugs , or just plugs . What did you do brandon ? Just plugs ?
Thanks for your help , much appreciated .

I just did the plugs. Didn't do it myself because we have all heard the horror stories of the 04-08's with them breakingI might get around to doing the boots myself eventually, just hasn't happened yet!

Sounds like you have a plug or plugs going bad. I had a similar issue around 45-55 mph when accelerating uphill and had to give it enough gas to downshift and it would go away. Look in to getting your plugs changed. Soon as I changed my plugs it stopped doing it and truck runs better.

Happy to hear it seems to be plugs and not my tranny ! Awesome, thanks guys . I'm Gonna buy some plugs and coils , motorcraft brand , gather some tools and tackle this job myself .. thanks again guys.

Anybody care to chime in ? What else could this be ? The truck only does this under stress , like going uphill ,it goes up to 2100 rpm then drops right down to 1800 rpm . Plugs were changed with motor craft ones very recently . . Thanks for any suggestions !
