Evidently cam phaser issues are going to haunt Ford owners the rest of their lives. I would of thought that would of been resolved by now.

My 2014 f150 5.0 had head and cams replaced on driver side due to engine knock at 5,000 miles now that same side has oil shooting out were the two cam phaser or vct plugs come out of the valve cover and its idling weird goes from smooth to ruff/smoth/ruff every like 2-4 seconds all started at 2,000 miles knocking and dealer told me they all sound like that! Lol time for some lemon law action been in the shop like 20 times allready and out of service at dealer for well over 30 days in the first year

I'm going through the cam phasers problem also. 2012, XLT, loaded, beautiful truck that has been owned by another Ford dealer since new. I started having issues with it shortly after I bought it with 47,000 miles on it. So far on the right side they replaced vct solenoid twice, replaced them a third time with everything under the timing cover, repaired the fourth time with a new head , and phasers, and solenoids. Have had the truck back for three days and it is doing it again. Dealer has been awesome and they are just as frustrated as me. Right now we are waiting till it happens again, meanwhile they are complaining to Ford that this is just not right. Going to be interesting to see what happens. By the way, the oil has been changed every 5,000 Mike's by Ford and was told the engine has no sludge build whatsoever.

On Monday (2/29), I was called that the part was received and they'd start the repairs. Today (3/2), I got the call today that she was ready to be picked up. They replaced the intake and exhaust cam phaser sprockets on bank 2. Per the WSM (?), they also filled cooling system and changed the oil/filter. Road tested complete. Fingers crossed this'll be it and I can put some mileage on the truck. Ford offered to provide me a months truck payment which I may consider but I'm still talking with a lawyer tomorrow to see if I have other options. Thanks for the support and hope no one else has to wait that long for repairs. Hopefully Ford increases their parts inventory. When my 2006 F-150 cam phasers went, they could get the part overnight. Finally back on the road. Cheers!
Hows the truck been since repairs?

im a little late on the reply, however, of all the instances that ive run into so far regarding cam phaser issues, (and yes it is an expensive repair that is not in everyones budget)but i always replace the entire timing kit plus the solenoids and havent seen them come back for repair yet as far as i know.

same problems with my 2015
My remote start wouldn't work on my 2015 SCEW 4x4 sport with 5.0. Owners manual said if check engine light was on remote start would be disabled. Sure enough my light was on. Took it in to ford and the said the oil flow to the cam phaser had a blockage but fixed itself? I laughed and told them that was ridiculous. I started it up and as soon as I backed out the light came on again. needles to say they are ordering parts and going to replace the phasers next week. I Have 14,500 miles on it. you are not alone in your phaser problems.

Hate to open a old thread but cam phasers and VCT solenoids are still a issue many years later. I just had my phasers and VCT solenoids replaced at 48k on my 2016 5.0. This almost comical that the #1 Selling truck brand can’t fix a issue over a 20 year period, it really can’t be this hard!!!
