Default No history on 2013 F-150; what needs checking?

I just bought a 2013, F-150 XL 5.0L. 98k miles. I don't have any maintenance history. What should I be sure to check, change or repair to make sure she'll last?

I know you guys have a lot more experience than I do. Appreciate any and all advice!

Hey guys - new to the community, and never owned a Ford before. Been reading the threads like crazy, but could really use the "Do This To Be Sure" list. I won't be taking it to a dealer - no warranted and I can't see paying dealer rates, but would love the shopping list of changes and tightening for my mechanic.

Seriously, thanks! I think I got a decent truck, but I have never paid this much for anything used and don't want to be the dummy that didn't change a 20 dollar part so his truck blew up.

@ that mileage it's probably a good bet the spark plugs are worn out, check/change the air filter, no fuel filter to change so scratch that off the list head over to www.owner.ford.com and sign up for a free account, you can get all the literature that came with the truck new from that place including maintenance schedules and what's needed and when.

Considering where you live, you might want to have the frame inspected for rust.

Its well known, its the drive shaft. Lubing temp fixes it, its more of a nuisance than anything. Some have had the shaft replaced by Ford with some luck. There is a TSB on it although my dealer and ford refused to do the work.

Took to an independent and all was well until a week or so ago, its back.

That sucks. Does it have any performance impact or just annoying?

The thunk is the slip yoke....mine did it when new, greased it and came back again after 20K miles. I just live with it. Does not seem to have any effect on performance...

I would have all the fluids changed. (Brake fluid I would check but leave it unless you had a good reason to flush it out) Diffs, tranny, T-Case, engine oil. Coolant. If the previous owner was diligent in keeping services up to date - great extra service wont hurt. If he hasn't been so diligent then better off that you get it done. Also condition of said fluids will help give an indication of the condition of those components. Either way you will have peace of mind that it has been done and not wondering what if....
