My 98 xlt 4x4, the interior lights do not come on when I open the doors. They do work with thedimmer switch after the key has been tuned on briefly. Not sure where to start.

Maybe a blown fuse ?

Thanks for the reply, I did check the fuses, and re checked. I noticed that the courtesy light socket was missing from passenger door. I pulled the panel to find it and got looking. I remembered reading on this forum that the light switch was in the latch. At some point the wire plug had come loose and fell out, or was disconnected. Both doors
Were unplugged. Problem is now

Probably disconnected because those switches have a tendency to stick keeping the lights on all the time if you start having that problem or door ajar light, the switches can be removed with a quarter turn counter clockwise for replacement.
