Default Need advice!!! Hole in piston!

I have an 05 with a triton 5.4 with 160k miles. Mechanic just told me there is a hole in the piston and recommends replacing the motor with a Jasper engine with a total price tag of $6500! He made it sound like this is my best option. Im thinking i want to make necessary repairs and unload it. He told me it wld still run around $3k to replace the piston. What do you guys think?

to replace the piston you would need alot of machine work internally. meaning complete teardown of engine, machine and hone cylinders for rings, machine crank and caps for bearings, machine heads for new gaskets, you get the point. jasper engines are great and you would get another 150k out of it. cheapest option though if your going to just dump the truck is find a used motor out of a junk yard.

Have someone else verify there's a hole in the piston first. If you like the truck put a motor in it but I'd get a crate motor from Ford.
