It also struggles to engage in gears because not enough gas is being pumped into it to shift the gears. Now it ran PERFECTLY about a month ago, and I had it sitting since. The only thing I could think of that happened is the person I bought it from did something to it, because I am at work and school all the time and my truck is unattended all day. I know it is something minor and simple, but I don't have the time or energy to figure it out on my own right now, and I would love to have my truck back.Thanks.

Edit: sorry I forgot to mention it is a 1988. 5.0. half ton model. Manual. Thank you again.
Quick question..Do you have the inline fuel filter that runs long frame on the underside of truck(usually runs along drivers side) and also is the fuel pump electric inside gas tank? If so, turn ignition switch to accessory position. Get under truck and you should be able to hear gas flowing through fuel filter, or put hands on both ends of fuel line going into fuel filter..should be able to feel the fuel being pushed through..If nothing there..go back to tank and check to hear the in tank fuel pump engaging..it will make like a buzzing sound..If that is working and fuel filter are free flowing..check throttle body. Spray some starter fluid into throttle body. It should fire up and continue to run. The starter fluid will also clean out and deposits or gunk built up inside. This maybe your issue..fuel. But you are saying that teh headlights and blinkers arent working now. Could be that you arent getting enough "juice" to power your throttle body, this not allowing the fuel to be to be pumped through the system. Sounds like you are having an electrical issue...possibly bad battery, alternator, or a ground problem. Good luck, hope this helps you out

had a friend once who couldn't keep his truck running after he'd recently gone mudding
the truck would run breifly - stall - and sputter out

The problem was he wasn't getting good (or in his case any) air flow; i pulled his air filter and the truck fired right up and ran great. Considering you were saying that you don't do much in the truck - i doubt you're air filter could have gotten that dirty. That being said though, you may have an intake issue. Something could be preventing airflow and/or effecting your mass air flow sensor and the idle of the truck

good luck

My dads ford F150 1996 wont stay running it cranks and cuts right back off and it will start back up and cut right back off. He have tried putting in a fuel filter and checking wiring, putting in a new coral and modular.and Its still doing the same thing.
