Default mix transmission fluids

i just recently had my transmission fluid flushed at 90K miles, but was still a little dirty, is what the mechanic told me when he was done. my question is could i drop the pan, clean it out, and mix some mercon V with the fluid the mechanic replaced it with, or should i not worry. he told me he put in full synthetic but mercon V is a blend. i have 12 quarts of mercon v just laying around cause i thought i could flush the transmission myself from watchin all the youtube videos showing you how.

All Mercon V is compatible so mixing isn't an issue. If you had a true flush the fluid should have been cherry red. I would suspect he did not flush the torque converter which holds 7 to 9 quarts. You're probably OK the way it is, just have it serviced again in 30K miles

Most Ford torque converters have a small drain plug that can be accessed through an inspection plate on the bottom of the bell housing. You have to have someone bump the motor until you can see it or manually move the converter by using a pry bar on the starter ring gear. Good luck

yes. You can mix both fluids as long as the synthetic meets the Mercon 5 specs. There are even synthetic blends of trans. fluids. This is no different than changing standard motor oil to full syn. oil. I believe Valvoline also makes full syn. ATF
