Manifolds gone after 4 years
I bought my 2010 F150 last year. It has about 60,000 miles on it. I recently noticed that it was getting a little noisy and I find out that the exhaust manifolds are shot. I have never had to replace an exhaust manifold on any vehicle. Is this normal for a F150? If so, will I have to replace them 4 years from now? What is your experience?

What do you mean by shot? Exhaust manifolds usually last the life of the vehicle. But its not uncommon for them to crack. Its a safe bet you won't have to replace one again in 4 years or ever again.

If you didn't see the cracks yourself it's a good bet it's the gaskets and you're getting upsold by the mechanic. Most shops won't surface an exhaust manifold but they'll just sell you a new one. Always ask for you old parts back to verify they were bad. If you're running any kind of Flex Fuel this can be hard on an engine. Bad manifolds at this mileage and age are not normal.

I have an 08 with 60k and mine is in the shop right now with the same issue. I had a Titan and they were notorious for manifold cracks as well. I'm not pleased either that it's already happening but It's still under warranty.
