I just cleared the codes and went for a drive. Check engine light came. Back on. I changed the coil on the bad cylinder and I just did all the plugs about two months ago. Would a clogged cat cause the CPS to light up the CEL?

Yes but it should be throwing a cat code as well i know the smell i had the same thing, rev your engine with your hood open and see if you see smoke coming out the top end cause then its clogged, the misfire i had ruined my cat that's why i had to do everything but it runs great now just gotta fix my vacuum leak

I cleared the code and went for a ride just now. Light came back on. No it's not flashing anymore just throwing a code for the CPS and an intermittent CPS. Would a clogged cat effect the CPS?

Well if its clogged the exhaust goes right back into your engine and it screws everything up the engine has to much pressure in it, it could throw the sensor but I'm not sure, you should make sure your distributor is good and check your plugs, do the cheap stuff first a cat is expensive

Yeah no smoke then not a cat, it definitely might be the timing, do an oil change and make sure there's nothing chunky coming out too

make sure your plugs are on the correct cylinders too, do all the cheap things first and see if it fixes it

One more thing. I have decent power again after changing the coil. It's just running sloppy at low idle.

Clean your fuel injectors maybe or you also might have a vacuum leak cause that will cause that
