You would be amazed at how much you can fix on your truck, instead of thinking wrenches and screwdrivers you will need to update you tool kit with OBDII scanner. Now you have the ability to read the codes when the check engine light comes on... and most scanners work on any vehicle from 1996 and up. I have heard so many stories of people taking a vehicle back to the shop wasting half a day... to find out the check engine light is on because they forgot to replace or tighten the gas cap or small things like that... Even if you cant fix the code sometimes and have to visit a dealer, you all ready know what the code is that tripped the light... and you might have a few ideas for the mechanic to follow after researching the internet for a cure... I see so many here that seem to love to run to the dealer for the most minor fixes when most can be solved from simply reading the owners manual.
